 Inspection and certification procedure & Types

CERT1, as an Approved Control Body, conducts checks & issues certificates of checks / re-checks of pressure vessels based on the Greek Legislation (Government Gazette 673/1993, GOVERNMENT GOVERNMENT 477/1993, GOVERNMENT GOVERNMENT 1257/2003, GOVERNMENT GOVERNMENT 2656/2021) according to which the audit is mandatory. The container categories are:

  1. Air tanks over 450 lt 
  2. Steam boilers 
  3. LPG gas tanks

All the above machines are subject to periodic inspection & re-inspection, according to current legislation. The time intervals of periodic checks are determined by the control body depending on the age of the equipment.

The Certificate of Conformity is issued following an inspection of the machine by a competent inspector of CERT1 and as long as no deviations from the provisions of the current legislation are found and provided that the requirements of the legislation and the manufacturer's instructions for its maintenance and handling are complied with, it certifies the suitability of the pressure vessel for safe use.

 

Benefits of Certification

With the control and certification of pressure vessels, the good operation of the equipment is ensured and you anticipate any failure or the necessity of repair, being an important criterion for the safe operation of pressure vessels and above all the protection of workers from accidents.

The non-existence of a certificate of receipt or a valid certificate of periodic inspection, incurs a fine from government agencies up to criminal sanctions or removal of the operating license of the business.

In accordance with the provisions of Official Gazette 2656/28.09.2021: Violators of the provisions of this decision are subject to fines from one thousand (1,000) to sixty thousand (60,000) euros and/or the shutdown of the steam boiler by decision of the Licensing Authority, as defined from time to time

The inspection by Cert1 is carried out in accordance with the requirements of the legislation as well as the relevant standards.

 

Legislation

The initial and periodic control of pressure vessels is performed based on the Greek Legislation, Official Gazette (FEK)  673 / 1993, Official Gazette (FEK) 477/1993, Official Gazette  (FEK) 1257/2003, Official Gazette (FEK) 2656/2021, the European Directive on Pressure Equipment (2014/68/EU), which harmonized the Greek legislation with YA 74124 /ΔTBN 1431/2016 (Government Gazette (FEK) 2278/B/2016). and the European directives (2014/29/EU) for the certification of Simple Pressure Vessels
